It began in 2014, when founder Manjil Maskey shaped his first piece by hand in a small workshop in Bharatpur, Chitwan. The work was imperfect — the joints slightly proud, the finish uneven. But it held.
That bench still sits in our workshop today. It is a reminder that every great craft begins with the courage to make the first cut — knowing the wood will never forgive a moment of inattention.
We believe that wood is not a material to be conquered — it is a partner to be understood. Every board has a history written in its grain: the wet years and the dry, the prevailing winds, the soil chemistry of the forest floor.
Our approach is to read this history and respond to it. We never force a curve the grain doesn't want to follow. We never stain a board to disguise its character. The wood speaks; we listen.
Today, M.M Wood operates from its dedicated workshop in Bharatpur-10, Chitwan, Nepal. The space houses modern woodworking machinery for precision work, a finishing area for lacquer and oil treatments, and — at its heart — a hand-tool bench where every piece receives its final shaping by hand.
We are a passionate team of skilled craftspeople rooted in Nepalese tradition. Every piece that leaves our workshop bears the mark of each hand that shaped it — a promise of quality, built to last generations.

The species we work with are chosen for their structural integrity, grain character, and ability to age with grace.
Terminalia elliptica
The backbone of our workshop. A robust South Asian hardwood with tight, even grain and warm brown-to-olive tones. Asna is dimensionally stable, takes oil finishes to a deep lustre, and ages with grace — our first choice for tables, seating, and architectural joinery.
Gmelina arborea
A lighter, pale-golden hardwood prized in Nepali woodworking for its workability and gentle figure. Khamari machines cleanly and accepts fine carving — making it our material of choice for sculpted seating and the more delicate components of a piece.
Tectona grandis
The aristocrat of tropical hardwoods. Naturally rich in protective oils, teak is exceptionally resistant to moisture, insects, and decay. We reserve it for outdoor benches and pieces that must endure the elements without compromise.
Shorea robusta
One of the strongest hardwoods of the Himalayan foothills. Sal is dense, slow-grown, and deeply reddish-brown in the heartwood. We reserve it for structural pieces meant to carry weight across generations.
